Six years didn’t seem like such a long time. At least when you were a child. Children measured time far differently than adults. While most would find a single year would go by in a flash, others would find it sloughing on as it attempted to turn the calendar to the following year. For Raya, six years had been an eternity. The day the Druun returned and consumed her kingdom, trapping everyone unlucky enough to escape into a stone-encased hell. That hell spread throughout Kumandra, claiming the lives of anyone within their path. The Druun were relentless like that. During those long years of fending for herself, Raya had seen many horrors. The Druun didn’t discriminate, any human was prey. During the moments she was alone with her thoughts, she wondered if the Druun were truly mindless. The way they targeted people was too coordinated.
